Nearshoring had a moment during Mexico’s second presidential debate Sunday, as each candidate shared specific proposals for how the country could leverage the increased business interest.

With Mexico’s general election fast approaching in June, all three candidates appeared to agree the surging interest in Mexico as a site for investment was an opportunity to be taken advantage of.

Air Canada abandons plans for two Boeing 767 converted freighters

Air Canada has again scaled back growth plans for its startup freighter division, announcing Thursday it has canceled orders with a vendor to convert two Boeing 767-300 passenger jets into freighters.

The airline took a one-time charge of US$14.5 million for backing out of reservations for production slots at Israel Aircraft Industries, it said in its earnings report for the first quarter.

Russian cyberattacks on Germany includes Logistics Cos.

Germany has summoned a top Russian envoy over a series of cyberattacks targeting members of the governing Social Democrats and its defense, technology and logistics sectors.

According to The Guardian, Germany blames the 2023 attacks on a hacker group, Fancy Bear, linked to Russian military intelligence. Using a then-unknown vulnerability in the Microsoft Outlook email service, the group knocked several websites offline, and compromised the servers of affected companies, apparently as a reprisal for Berlin’s decision to send tanks to Ukraine.
