Asia imports to US hit extended peak season’s zenith in October

US imports from Asia rose 11 percent in October from September to reach what some carriers tell JOC.com will be the highest monthly volume of the year for this extended peak season. Container volumes in October jumped 23.7 percent from a year ago.

What we know about Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine distribution plan

Pfizer and BioNTech expect the distribution of their COVID-19 vaccine to involve about 12 trucks per day leaving Pfizer’s formulation and fill facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and 20 planes taking flight daily around the world, a Pfizer spokesperson said in an email. But first, the vaccine must be approved for distribution.

Port of Long Beach again breaks container record

The Port of Long Beach has handled more than 800,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in a single month for the first time in its 109-year history.

The port moved 806,603 TEUs in October and broke the record set just a month earlier by more than 11,000 TEUs. Trade was up 17.2% from October 2019, the port said.
